Meet Our Instructor

Dottie Shauna Gustuson

Dottie  found skating in her late twenties—and never looked back. What started as shaky first steps turned into roller derby, coaching, and building community.

As founder of Doomsday Skate, she creates inclusive, no-pressure spaces focused on progress over perfection.

Her mission: help people reconnect with confidence,

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

Doomsday Skate is dedicated to fostering safe and inclusive spaces for individuals to learn roller skills and a sense of community. We welcome people of all backgrounds, sizes, races, gender identities, abilities, and religions. Each member of our organization brings unique perspectives, which we honor and respect. We approach this challenging work with a commitment to sustained effort.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Humbly barrowed from Cal Poly office of Diversity and Inclusion.

We skate on land that "sits on the traditional lands of the yak titʸu titʸu yak tiłhini Northern Chumash Tribe of San Luis Obispo County and Region. The yak titʸu titʸu yak tiłhini have a documented presence in this area for over 10,000 years. The tiłhini peoples have stewarded their ancestral and unceded homelands, which include all of the cities, communities, federal and state open spaces within the San Luis Obispo County region. These homelands extend East into the Carrizo Plains toward Kern County, South to the Santa Maria River, North to Ragged Point, and West beyond the ocean’s shoreline in an unbroken chain of lineage, kinship, and culture.

While Land Acknowledgment is an important starting point, ongoing and consistent action to support Indigenous communities is critical. Being an indigenous ally is an ongoing and life-long process."

ANTI-HARASSMENT

The instructors, assistants, and volunteers of Doomsday Skate reserve the right to deny registration or visitation to anyone who has been accused of harassment, misconduct, or abuse if the claim is substantiated in the opinion of Doomsday Skate LLC.

Doomsday Skate offers roller skating lessons for beginners, kids roller skating classes, and adult roller skating lessons in California Central Coast. Our programs focus on safe, supportive, and confidence-building instruction for all skill levels. Whether you're learning how to roller skate for the first time or building advanced skills, our community-driven approach helps you progress at your own pace.
